Bed Bugs – 2012 the summer of Sport Legacy

Dave Clements from Bed Bug Specialists, Heat and Go, urges UK hoteliers not to overlook stringent room cleansing processes in the lead up to the 2012 Olympic Games.
Twenty twelve is definitely the biggest summer of sports for some time, which will thankfully bring with it welcomed guests. The problem is what else the guest may bring or in some cases take home. Your hotel could be bitten by a Client claim for hosting a bed bug feast.
With a great opportunity to have full hotels, the last thing you want is rooms offline due to bed bugs.

The resurgence of these insects is up 400% in the last 4 years from a dormant existence for the last 40 years.

For some strains of bed bugs modern insecticides just aren’t tough enough for the job. Traditional treatments take up to 4 to 7 days to have a chance to take effect.

Bed bugs feed for 10 minutes then hide away for 3 days whilst they digest their blood meal and when you consider that that their laterally flat body means that they can access almost any crevice, no wonder they are surviving, or indeed thriving.

Bed bugs have been found on Airplanes, Taxi’s, Trains, Coaches, Hotel Rooms, in fact any resting place.

Their stealth like behaviour means that bed bugs can go undetected for months, leaving you with a headache and a severe infestation when they are eventually found.
Staff need to know how to detect the signs of activity, where to look and what measures to take when they do find bed bugs.
Heat and Go have developed a whole room heat treatment solution called the ‘Thermo Insect Storm’, which gets your room back on line within 1 day. At 52 degrees eggs and adults are eradicated and you can get back to welcoming guests.
With heat, all items in the room are cleansed and therefore there is no need to dispose of any furniture.
Why have your guests sleeping in bed bug dust and insecticide, heat is safe, effective and gets the results. Why have your room’s offline any longer than they need to be!
